Truck sales data from 2010

Original article: http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2011/01/the-ultimate-guide-to-us-pickup-truck-sales-in-2010.html

Observations:

  • The Titan, launched in 2004, needs more cab and bed configurations and a major overhaul to stay competitive.
  • The Tundra is doing well as Toyota’s first real half-ton pickup for the US market, especially in the south-central region where it is also built.
  • Despite an exceptionally competent and well-designed Ram 1500 that arrived in 2009, Ram’s numbers have declined, likely due to bankruptcy and the closure of several Dodge dealerships.
  • Truck sales improved quite a bit at the end of 2010.
  • The Toyota Tacoma outsells the Ford Ranger 2 to 1, which is actually impressive for the very dated Ranger. Tacoma beats Ranger on fuel economy as well as power.

Makes me mad that GMC and Chevy aren’t added together to kick fords ass.

Um, if you add GMC and Chebby together you only get 102,582. Which is still less than 193,822 by 91,240.

GM would have beat Dodge… but Dodge always wins over Chebby. 😉

    For light and heavy duty:

    Ford Total: 528k

    Chevy: 370k
    GMC: 129k
    GM Total: 499k

    Ram Total: 199k

Ahh, there were too many charts. Did not read. I was reading the Heavy Duty trucks chart not the other ones. 🙂

P.S., all the 2010 Ford Diesels are probably in the dealership getting new bottom ends when the EGR cooler blows up and dumps coolant into #8 cylinder hydrolocking it. 😉

The earlier ones had problems with headgaskets and EGR coolers too, but the EGR cooler going just dumped coolant into the exhaust instead of dumping it into #8 cylinder. These are re-badged International made diesels originally from school bus duty.

The 2011 uses a Ford designed diesel which supposedly does not have all the issues.
